FEAR NOT! All books can be returned in September. Seshat, the ancient Egyptian goddess of astronomy, architecture, scribes and writing, will smile down upon you if you remember to return them. I’m not sure what she’ll do if you forget. Happy holidays! The public libraries have reopened, so take advantage of them, please.

    Thank you!

  • Competition for 'Visions of a world after COVID-19'

    Published 30/06/20

    Dear Students,

'What’s your vision for the world after coronavirus?'

Put your thinking caps on and enter this exciting competition being run by 'opendemocracy'. Enter a photo, video or written entry in answer to the above question, to be in with the chance of winning some fantastic prizes:

"The grand prize includes £200 in book vouchers and a bespoke training opportunity with either open Democracy or UCL that may take the form of a mini-fellowship, work experience, or placement in line with the winner’s area of interest. The People’s Choice winner will receive £100 in book vouchers and runners-up will receive £50 in book vouchers" (openDemocracy)

The competition is open to anyone age 14+, but I would particularly like to encourage entries from our current year 10 and 12 students. You can find details below and on ShowMyHomework of how this competition could be of particular interest and use to students in these year groups.

As well as entering the 'openDemocracy' competition via their website:, I would also ask you to email your entries to for submission into an internally judged school competition. The deadline for entries is Friday 10th July.

Good Luck everyone (I know how innovative you all are!), and I look forward to receiving your entries.

    Mrs V. McMahon
