Year 7 Plas Caerdeon Residential July 2019

Dear Parent/Guardian

Plas Caerdeon Residential Trip

We are pleased to announce that our annual residential trip to Plas Caerdeon Outdoor Education Centre has provisionally been booked from Friday 12th July to Sunday 14th July 2019 for Year 7 students.

Plas Caerdeon Outdoor Education Centre is in Bontduu, near Barmouth, Wales. It is a lovely centre situated in its own grounds and beautiful surroundings. The views across the Mawddach Estuary to Cadair Idris are stunning. The accommodation has been recently modernised and the food is very good.

A trip of this sort presents students with a range of opportunities which we cannot provide within school itself. Activities on offer include hill-walking, archery, rock climbing, kayaking, beach exploration plus a zip-wire and low ropes course. We also include some environmental awareness work while out on the hills and on the beach. We hope the trip gives the students valuable life skills such as team building, independence, responsibility and problem solving whilst having fun!

The cost of the trip will be approximately £200.00 per student; the exact price will be confirmed once places have been allocated. There are only 40 places available and should the trip be oversubscribed, names will be drawn out of a hat. The remaining students will be placed on a waiting list.

If you would like more information about this fantastic opportunity or to ask any questions about the trip, we are holding a Parental Briefing at Idsall School on Thursday 10th January 2019 in the Lecture Theatre at 5.30pm. The meeting should take no longer than 45 minutes and will give you a full insight into the trip.

If you would like to attend the Parental Briefing, please complete and return the Parental Briefing reply slip to Mrs Rushton in the Finance Office by Monday 17th December 2018.

Once the briefing has taken place, we will be taking bookings for this trip. If you wish to take advantage of this wonderful experience, please complete and return the Residential Trip reply slip attached, along with a £50.00 NON REFUNDABLE deposit to the Finance Office by Friday 18th January 2019 in order to secure a place. (Deposits will not be accepted at the Parental Briefing.)

Please note that cash or cheques will not be banked before trip confirmation has taken place. It is expected for you to keep to these payment deadlines to avoid additional interest being incurred.

After the initial deposit and once the trip has been confirmed, all payments can be paid by the following methods:

  1. By Cash or Cheque to Mrs Rushton in the Finance Office.  Cheques should be made payable to Idsall School Fund.
  2. By online payment as I am pleased to say that the school can now accept payments online.  Online payments can be made via ParentPay - and it offers you the freedom to make payments whenever and wherever you like, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - safe in the knowledge that the technology used is of the highest internet security available

The remainder of the money must be paid by Friday 10th May 2018

Please note that any cancellations that are made after any payments are forwarded to Plas Caerdeon will be subject to loss of monies unless a replacement is found.

As with any school trip, parents and students should be aware that if a student’s behaviour or attendance become unacceptable prior to departure, then the school reserves the right to exclude them from the trip and this could jeopardise any refund of monies paid to that date.

If you have any further queries please contact me at school and I look forward to seeing you at the Parental Briefing.

Yours faithfully

Mr G Summerhayes
